A guide to types of nappy fastenings.
There are several types of fastenings for cloth nappies, here is a guide to all of them...
Hook and loop (velcro, aplix)
These are the easiest to fasten, especially on a wriggling baby, however most babies soon get the idea and can enjoy undoing them theirselves!
Hook and loop give you some degree of choice in the size, as you can fasten them where ever it fits best on your child.
Some people have found that after many years of washing the fastening can become worn.
Poppers
Poppers are the most secure fastening, however in the dead of night and for arthritic people they may be more of a challenge.
Most brands of nappies with poppers have 4-5 poppers along the side so you can fix the poppers at the size which fits your baby best.
Nappi Nippa
A Nappi Nippa is a 3-way gripper that hooks into the terry, cotton or muslin to hold the nappy in place, they are the modern nappy pin! but with no worries of pinning the baby!
